Primula root is used as a secretomotor and secretolytic expectorant in bronchitis, catarrh of the respiratory tract, coughs, colds, and phlegm in the bronchopulmonary system due to its saponin content.
The main active chemical constituents are triterpene saponin groups found in roots and flowers. It also contains flavonoids and phenolic acids.
