Meet Georgina PROS, Purchasing and Logistics Specialist at Safic-Alcan Spain, a curious and committed professional who transitioned from banking to supply chain, blending operational expertise with a passion for teamwork, continuous learning, mountain adventures, and capturing life’s best moments through photography.
Introduce yourself...When and why did you join Safic-Alcan? What made you consider joining us?
I started my professional career in the banking sector. After several years, I was ready for a new challenge, and I decided to look for a new job opportunity to grow personally and professional.
In 2014 I joined Safic-Alcan, I was very interested in becoming part of an international company. I started working as a Customer Service Representative in the cosmetics department. In 2018, I had the opportunity to move to my current position in the Purchasing and Logistics Department, where I have been able to continue developing my knowledge in the supply chain. I have also been part of some digitalization project, which has been a very interesting experience.
How do experience your relationship with other collaborators, partners, principals or customers?
We work closely with suppliers and subsidiaries as part of our purchasing and logistics activities. We are in the middle of the supply chain, between suppliers and customers, so good internal and external communication is very important in our job.
Additionally, it is very interesting to be part of the Supply Chain group at Safic-Alcan, where we can share and develop logistics projects together.
What is something curious or funny we should know about you?
I live in Barcelona, just 4 km from the office, and I enjoy walking to work. It’s a great way to start the day with energy and positivity.
I enjoy doing sports, but I have a particular affinity for mountain activities like trekking and cycling, especially when I can share them with my family. I find that spending time in nature is perfect to relax.
I also enjoy taking good photos during our trips or activities, because at the end of each year, I love creating a photo album with our best moments. It is a fun tradition, and I have been doing it for years.
How do you try to incorporate Safic values of Entrepreneurship, Responsibility, Expertise, Trust in your day-to-day work?
I think it’s not difficult to incorporate the company values in our daily work. In our department, we work very well together as a team. We always try to finish our tasks on time and help our colleagues. We are committed to our work. Trust, expertise, and responsibility are important in my position.
I am always honest with suppliers, and I share clear information with colleagues, which helps us work well and build strong relationships. We’re also thinking about sustainability in logistics. For example, we reduce the number of trucks and plan better routes to help the environment.
Do you have any illustrative fun/light stories to share from your time at Safic-Alcan?
In our Logistics department, we really support each other. When someone has a question or problem, we usually send a message in our Teams chat and ask, “Who knows about this?” We try to reply as fast as possible, sometimes with a funny comment, a GIF, or an emoji to keep a nice atmosphere.
