My number one value, which I always try to follow, is to work within the ethical principles of a business, sharing information with my colleagues to help and enable them, being very transparent with my customers and suppliers in order to be trusted and a reliable partner to their businesses.
From her passion to horses to her challenges in the Plastics Industry as a Sales Manager in Italy : Hear from Ivana Terruso ( and her lovely dog Pippi).
Introduce yourself...When and why did you join Safic-Alcan? What made you consider joining us?
I used to work for the Arkema Group, one of our partners, where I stayed for over 11 years.I was once at an exhibition in 2015 and I met Safic-Alcan by coincidence, when I went by their booth and someone then proposed me to develop the Italian plastic division. I was very excited, and thought it was a great opportunity, both personally and professionally. It was, (and still is) a challenge for me, starting an“ex novo” business for the company, but I do have a lot of fun as well. I thought Safic-Alcan was a good company to join, from the openness of my future colleagues which I could catch a glimpse of at the exhibition!
How do experience your relationship with other collaborators, partners, principals or customers?
In my previous experiences I have much less interaction with colleagues and other partners. At Safic, I can say I am always connected with people; communicating, sharing experiences, truly working as a team. I think this is something very important, for the business, but also personally, when experiencing a satisfying job. This kind of ongoing feedback and communication, both internally and externally is a great experience in general.
What is something curious or funny we should know about you? (your hobbies, passions, etc)
I absolutely love horses, I have two and I try to spend all of my free time with them (and tend to spend most part of my salary on it as well...as we do with all passions, I believe). I love animals, and aside my horses, I have a dog, a chihuahua called Pippi, who is the sweetest puppy and actually got me through the COVID-19 lockdowns, keeping me company and making me move a little bit on the outside as well. One other thing I really love, is to read and, specially, South American writers, such as Isabel Allende, Marcela Serrano, Luis Sepulveda, Francisco Coloane, Gabriel Garcia Lorca, Jorge Amado etc. and there is always a book on my bedside table!
How do you try to incorporate Safic values of Commitment, Differentiation, Ethics, Trust & Reliability, Sustainable Development, Team Work, Transparency in your day-to-day work.
My number one value, which I always try to follow, is to work within the ethical principles of a business, sharing information with my colleagues to help and enable them, being very transparent with my customers and suppliers in order to be trusted and a reliable partner to their businesses. Sharing information just helps everybody to work better and to make better decisions. I think that it is very important to be clear and honest in our lives, and not only at work. The more we are transparent and honest, the better our lives will be.
Do you have any illustrative fun/light stories to share from your time at Safic-Alcan?
I remember that before COVID, we did a team building event in Cannes, in September 2018. Not only we got to spend the whole weekend together as a team in a beautiful place, but that is when I realized we are more than just co-workers, but really a Safic-Alcan family. We also had a funny encounter with famous singer Leroy Gomez ! He was there singing, and only I knew him, so I got all of my colleagues to the dance floor to enjoy the old classics for the night!
What is the one main takeaway candidates wanting to join Safic-Alcan should know and look forward to?
If you like to learn and to have new experiences every day, if you like to work and not get bored from your job, welcome to our family! No day will be like the other, your team will support you and share ideias and information, and you will be supported !
