PEPTIC DIGEST OF ANIMAL TISSUE (B)

Peptic Digest of Animal Tissue (B) acts as an excipient suitable for pharmaceutical applications. It is also used as a nutrient for industrial fermentation (e.g. vaccine production) especially to overcome the so-called lag-phase. It is used in culture media to grow different kinds of microorganisms. It is well suited for media with blood for haemolytic studies (pneumococci, streptococci). The shelf life of peptone in powder form is 3 years and for peptone extract in liquid form is 2 years from date of production.
