Benefits:
- It can be considered as high molecular alcohol and therefore displays typical chemical reactions of alcohols
- Acts as anendcap and hydrophilic component with isocyanates and polyesters
- Reacts with unsaturated monomers like acrylic or methacrylic acid to form esters which can be copolymerized to increase hydrophilicity and improve dispersing properties of polymers in water
- It is soluble in water and commonly used organic solvents like acetone and methanol
