Introduce yourself...When and why did you join Safic-Alcan? What made you consider joining us?
After my studies in chemical technology, I worked for 3 years in sales for cosmetic raw materials. After that, I joined SAFIC-ALCAN because I was ready for a new challenge. Since March 2007 I am part of the SAFIC-ALCAN family, part of the German Rubber sales team and I am very happy about it.
How do experience your relationship with other collaborators, partners, principals or customers?
Respect, honesty, transparency, and trust are very important for a very good working relationship. I find these values within SAFIC-ALCAN, but also with suppliers and customers. Of course, there are from time-to-time difficult situations, but if we stick to these values in our daily business, we will also overcome these situations.
Rubber industry is a “small world”. We know well most of the people and appreciate every occasion (conference, fairs, visits) to meet and do networking.
What is something curious or funny we should know about you? (your hobbies, passions, etc)
Through Corona I discovered photography for myself. I love walking through nature and discovering details where I used to just walk by. I discover the beauty of insects, plants, even dried-up trunks...I have learned more about bird species than ever before. Photography makes me realise, what a beautiful nature we have and need to protect. “It opens my eyes” or let’s say I have a little different view with the photography. Furthermore, being in the nature is giving me a very good balance to the working day.
How do you try to incorporate Safic values of Commitment, Differentiation, Ethics, Trust & Reliability, Sustainable Development, Team Work, Transparency in your day-to-day work.
That’s easy for me. These values are also important in my private life, so I just also “live” according to them in the business life.
But I would like to point out the outstanding teamwork of our rubber sales team. We have once a month a team meeting where we exchange important topics and projects (…and of course laughing together ?). For example, each of us has a function as product manager for dedicated product group and we are at disposal for the rest of the team for technical support.
Do you have any illustrative fun/light stories to share from your time at Safic-Alcan?
The most important and most interesting thing in the job is of course the people. Whether visiting customers, working on a projects with suppliers or simply exchange information with the colleagues at the coffee machine, you have always people with different thinking and different behavior around you. The multiplicity makes the job exciting.
What is the one main takeaway candidates wanting to join Safic-Alcan should know and look forward to?
Be part of the SAFIC-ALCAN family and be ready to learn every day! You will be well trained by our suppliers and “equipped” with technical knowhow for product promotion. But my experience since I am working for SAFIC-ALCAN is that I learn more on the “field”, in front of customers.
You will be surrounded by nice and helpful colleagues. You are never alone and there is no chance to get bored!
